Spark of Rebellion Part 2

Captured

Agent Kallus lures the rebels into a trap by bringing the transport and the Ghost into his Star Destroyer’s docking bay. Syndulla orders Bridger to board the transport and warn the others. Although initially hesitant, he eventually complies and finds Jarrus and Orrelios to alert them. Stormtroopers attack them, prompting the rebels to run away. Wren and Chopper disable the ship’s gravity system, allowing them to return to the Ghost. As the rebels get back to the ship, Orrelios pushes in front of Bridger, causing him to be captured by Agent Kallus. The Ghost departs without him, and the rebels detonate explosives to destroy the transport.

After jumping into hyperspace, the crew gathers in the cockpit, only to realize that Bridger is missing. Orrelios initially denies knowing his whereabouts but eventually confesses that Kallus has taken him prisoner. Bridger is being held in a prison cell aboard the Star Destroyer. Kallus reveals that the Empire plans to use him as bait to capture the other rebels, but Bridger thinks this is foolish. The stormtroopers take most of Bridger’s gear, but he manages to keep the holocron stolen from Jarrus. He opens it with the Force, revealing a holographic message from Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, which warns the surviving Jedi about the rise of the Empire.

Back on the Ghost, the crew debates whether to rescue Bridger. Orrelios and Wren want to leave him behind to avoid a trap, while Syndulla and Chopper want to save him. Jarrus breaks the tie and decides to mount a rescue. Bridger tricks the stormtroopers guarding him, allowing him to escape and retrieve his gear. He disguises himself as an Imperial and overhears that the Wookiee prisoners are being taken to the spice mines of Kessel. The Ghost returns to rescue him, and he joins the rebels near the docking bay. They flee as Kallus, and the stormtroopers give chase, and the Ghost takes off just as Wren ignites an explosion in the hangar, nearly sucking Kallus into space.

After The Ghost jumps back into hyperspace, Bridger converses with Syndulla in the cockpit. During the conversation, Bridger reveals he has no family to go home to on Lothal. As more of the crew joins in, Bridger tells them that the Wookiees are being taken to Kessel. The rebels, including Bridger, decide to mount a rescue as they know that the Wookiees will not survive in the harsh mining environment. Kallus suspects they will embark on such a mission as he learns that the communicator was inside the helmet that Bridger stole when the Imperials discussed the Wookiee prisoners.

On Kessel, the Wookiee prisoners, including Wullffwarro and his young son, Kitwarr, are taken off an Imperial transport ship and led toward the spice mines by stormtroopers. As they do so, the Ghost descends towards them and fires on the Imperials. The ship lands, and Jarrus, Wren, and Orrelios fight the stormtroopers, allowing Bridger to sneak around the soldiers and release the Wookiees from captivity. The freed Wookiees fight back against their captors just as three TIE fighters emerge and fire on the Ghost. The Ghost leads the fighters away while Kallus’ transport arrives. The ISB agent and stormtroopers pour out, forcing the rebels and the Wookiees to take cover.

While Syndulla pilots the Ghost throughout the sky to escape the TIE fighters, Jarrus tells her to perform a 22 pickup. This maneuver is where the crew and the Wookiees hide inside a cargo container that the Ghost can pick up. To allow the rebels and the Wookiees to escape into the containers, Jarrus ignites his lightsaber and reveals himself to be a Jedi. Kallus orders his men to fire on Jarrus, who uses his lightsaber to deflect blaster fire toward the Imperials while the others escape into one of the containers. Bridger, however, decides to rescue Kitwarr, who fled from the firefight and is being pursued by a stormtrooper. After following them to a ramp overlooking the deep mines, Bridger uses the Force to leap over the stormtrooper and knocks him over the railing with an energy slingshot. Kallus witnessed Bridger’s actions and believed him to be Jarrus’ apprentice. Jarrus and the Ghost, who picked up the cargo container, arrive in time to save Bridger and Kitwarr before escaping from Kessel.

A new Jedi

After escaping from Kessel, the Wookiees reunite on the Ghost with Kitwarr and Wullffwarro. They are then rescued by an Auzituck anti-slaver gunship and offered assistance to the rebels in the future. As the Wookiee ship departs, it causes a jolt, which allows Bridger to steal Jarrus’ lightsaber. Upon returning to Lothal, Bridger bids farewell to the crew and heads back to his tower. However, he returns the holocron to Jarrus before leaving. Jarrus later arrives at Bridger’s tower and explains what the Force is. He offers to train Bridger as a Jedi if he wishes to learn, giving him the option to stay on Lothal or join the crew of the Ghost. Jarrus leaves Bridger to decide and returns to the Ghost, where he watches a message from Obi-Wan Kenobi stating that Jedi survivors should not return to the Jedi Temple on Coruscant. Jarrus sees Bridger in the hallway, and the boy returns the lightsaber to him. Meanwhile, Agent Kallus contacts the Inquisitor and informs him of a rebel cell led by a Jedi, which the Inquisitor is pleased to hear about.
