Story
“The Terror of Tenoo”
The pirate ship
After recovering Marlaa Jinara’s stolen artifact from pirates, the Jedi Initiates Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs fly back to Tenoo aboard the Crimson Firehawk with Nash Durango and RJ-83. Speaking via holoprojector, Jinara thanks the Jedi younglings for recovering her stolen artifact and praises them as heroes. Following the conversation, Durango is upset because she feels that people forget about her and RJ-83.
Solay reassures Durango that she is a hero while Brightstar praises Durango for being a skilled pilot. Under the glare of the sun, Durango spots a derelict cruiser resting on an asteroid. She recognizes the ship as the legendary Terror of Tenoo, which belonged to the infamous pirate Captain Blackbolt who used to plunder Tenoo for treasure a long time ago. Blackbolt also stole Kaliah Kublop’s staff. Blackbolt subsequently disappeared and legend says that his ghost still haunts the ship. Nubs is scared but Durango reassures him that ghosts do not exists.
Durango describes Kaliah Kublop as a founder of Tenoo and adds that her staff is a precious historical relic. She believes that if they recover her staff, they will be treated like heroes. Durango convinces her Jedi friends to come on a treasure hunt. While Nubs is scared, Solay reassures him that she will be with him. Durango docks the Firehawk’s airlock against the Terror’s airlock. While RJ-83 stays behind in the cockpit, the younglings venture into the derelict cruiser.
An old terror
Durango manages to restore the Terror of Tenoo’s power, which activates the ship’s systems. In the cockpit, an armored droid begins charging up with its eyes glowing red. The younglings hear an ominous roar but Durango dismisses any idea of a threat. The younglings split up with Solay and Nubs searching the cargo bay. Solay hears a sound but it turns out to be Nubs’ stomach rumbling. They then hear a groan and see the shadow of a towering figure approaching. The two younglings retreat to find the others.
Meanwhile, Brightstar and Durango reach the cockpit. Durango tells Brightstar that she has only found dusty junk. The two hear footsteps approaching and are soon cornered by the armored droid that had been charging up in the cockpit. The armored droid has a metal peg leg in place of its left leg. The droid describes them as stowaways. Durango thinks that the droid is the ghost of Captain Blackbolt. She and Brightstar panic and flee down the corridor. They bump into Solay and Nubs.
The four younglings flee into a cargo compartment full of treasures that had been taken from the people of Tenoo including the Staff of Kaliah Kublop. Durango tells the Jedi younglings that they could win honor by returning the plundered treasures. Blackbolt corners the four in the treasure room, accusing them of wanting to steal his treasures. A cable is short-circuiting on the droid’s face. Nubs clings to Solay in fear. Durango stands her ground and tells Blackbolt that the treasures rightfully belong to the people of Tenoo.
Solay realizes that Blackbolt is not a ghost but a droid. Nubs is relieved. Blackbolt responds that when they powered up his ship, they also powered him up again. The pirate droid vows to plunder Tenoo again. The Jedi younglings activate their lightsabers while Durango wields the staff. Brightstar vows to stop Blackbolt and tells the droid that they are returning his stolen treasure. Seeing the Jedi, Blackbolt activates his red vibroblade arm and vows to continue fighting the Jedi. He attacks the younglings with his vibroblade, pushing them back.
Fighting back
Grabbing Kaliah Kublop’s staff, Blackbolt vows to continue his conflict with Tenoo and locks the younglings inside the treasure room. Durango is unable to unlock the door. She blames herself for bringing back the threat of Blackbolt while attempting to prove herself as a hero. Brightstar reassures Durango that she is a hero because she is brave, strong and a good pilot. Solay and Nubs also encourage Durango, telling her that they make a good team.
Durango has an idea and uses her comlink to contact RJ-83 for help. RJ-83 boards the Terror of Tenoo and reaches the treasure room’s door. RJ-83 climbs on several stacked boxes and shelves and jumps against the door panel, unlocking the treasure room. Durango thanks RJ-83 and the Jedi rush to confront Blackbolt. Captain Blackbolt fires up his starship and aims the Terror at Tenoo. The Jedi younglings confront Blackbolt in the cockpit. When he sees Durango and RJ-83 moving his loot in a sled, Blackbolt is enraged and fights the Jedi with his vibroblade.
With the pirate droid distracted, Durango and RJ-83 begin reprogramming the navicomputer to take the Terror of Tenoo far away from its destination. Captain Blackbolt gains the upper hand over the Jedi younglings. Before he can strike them down with his vibroblade, Durango reveals that she has programmed the hyperdrive. After sabotaging the controls, Durango and the younglings flee the cockpit, leaving Blackbolt behind. Durango still wants to take the treasure but Blackbolt drags her and the sled back towards the cockpit. The Jedi reach the airlock.
Brightstar warn Durango that time is running out. Durango decides to let Blackbolt keep his loot and races to the airlock as the timer approaches countdown. The younglings reach the Crimson Firehawk’s cockpit but find RJ-83 is missing. The droid soon reaches the cockpit. With everyone accounted for, Durango detaches from the Terror of Tenoo before the pirate cruiser jumps into hyperspace. The younglings and RJ-83 cheer at their victory.
A heroine’s homecoming
Brightstar apologizes that they were not able to recover Kaliah Kublop’s staff. However, RJ-83 reveals that he had managed to retrieve Kublop’s staff. Back in Kublop Springs, the younglings and RJ-83 reunite with Jinara near the Kaliah Kublop statue, who is excited to see that Durango has recovered Kaliah Kublop’s staff. A crowd gathers around Durango and her friends. Durango proceeds to retell their adventure with Captain Blackbolt to the assembled crowd.
“The Prince of Masks”
The Jedi visitors
In the Vuundalla palace, Prince Cyrus Vuundir (“Taborr Val Dorn”) searches his garage for his sparring staff. He opens a cupboard which contains Taborr’s helmet and Kai’s lightsaber, which he resolves to keep secret due to the impending Jedi visit. He ignites and marvels at the blue lightsaber. The butler droid CK-38 soon enters Vuundir’s garage with his missing staff. Vuundir is initially annoyed with CK-38 for misplacing his staff but thanks him for finding it. CK-38 is grateful that Vuundir has thanked him for once.
In the palace courtyard, Vuundir spars with the Jedi Initiates Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs. Brightstar thanks him for inviting them over, claiming that he has never sparred with a Jedi before. Solay spars with Nubs, who falls over. Solay helps Nubs up. Following a round, Vuundir manages to knock Brightstar’s staff from his hand. When Brightstar asks the prince where he learnt that move, Vuundir claims that he learnt it from a pirate before correcting himself and saying pilot. Vuundir claims to have trained with various people from all over the galaxy.
Solays says that they also train to help protect the people. Brightstar adds that he believes that Vuundir’s skills will one day make him a great leader. Vuundir offers to give the Jedi a tour of his people’s effort to rebuild their village. They reunite with Renaad and his daughter Mina, who are relieved that their home is being rebuilt. There are also several fathiers, one of whom snuggles Mina before licking Vuundir. Renaad explains that this fathier has taken a liking to Cyrus ever since he has started coming to their village. Mina hugs Cyrus.
The Comet Runners’ raid
Suddenly, a large repulsorlift barge enters the village. Corr Taldaan, the leader of the Comet Runners pirate gang, steps out of the landspeeder. His associates Slegg, Gossi and LE-47 wait on top of the barge. Brightstar and the Jedi younglings confront him. Taldaan tells the Jedi younglings that the pirates have come to steal the village’s herd of fathiers. Gossi adds that they are valuable offworld for racing. Solay tells them that the Jedi younglings will not let them plunder the village anymore. Gossi reminds them that the Comet Runners were only beaten the last time because they had help from their pirate friend Taborr Val Dorn.
Gossi’s words anger Vuundir, who walks over to join the Jedi. Brightstar responds that Val Dorn is not their friend, unnerving Vuundir. Taldaan and the Comet Runners attack the Jedi with their vibroblades. At Brightstar’s prompting, Val Dorn leads the villagers to safety behind a building. After comforting Mina, he rushes over to help the Jedi. Outnumbered, the Jedi are unable to stop Taldaan from loading the stolen fathiers onto the barge’s attached hovercart. The Comet Runners fly away in their barge.
Pursuing the pirates
Vuundir offers the Jedi younglings a ride in his landspeeder and they pursue the pirates down a winding forest trail. Brightstar says that they have to stop the Comet Runners before they can reach their starship. Vuundir says he can get them closer so that they can jump on the hovercart and unhook the fathiers. Vuundir accelerates his landspeeder and brings it beside the hovercart. Solay reassures the captive fathiers they are here to help. The Jedi leap onto the hovercart. Nubs attempts to detach the coupling mechanism but is confronted by Slegg, who grabs the Poobian by his legs.
Solay and Brightstar are captured by Gossi. The droid LE-47 grabs an exhaust tube and blows smoke at Vuundir’s landspeeder, causing his speeder to hit a tree. Vuundir screams in frustration and grumbles about the Jedi getting themselves captured. Cyrus thinks that it will be folly to ask the Comet Runners to return the fathiers. While kicking the bonnet of the landspeeder, he finds Taborr’s new armor and helmet. Using a comlink, he contacts EB-3 and Pord, telling them that he has a job for them.
Taborr to the rescue
At the Comet Runners’ ship, the handcuffed Jedi younglings watch as the pirates load the fathiers onto their ship. Suddenly, Val Dorn turns up in a new set of armor. When Taldaan asks if he is here to help his Jedi friends, Val Dorn denies that the Jedi are his friends and claims Vuundalla as his turf. Taldaan is dismissive of Val Dorn. Val Dorn demands that he return the fathiers and leave Vuundalla in return for no retribution. Taldaan proposes a bargain. While he is distracted, EB-3 and Pord free the Jedi younglings from their magnetic binders. EB-3 tells the Jedi younglings that Val Dorn has told them to free the fathiers while he distracts the Comet Runners.
Nubs accidentally draws the attention of Gossi. Taldaan realizes that Val Dorn was stalling for the Jedi. Val Dorn attacks Taldaan with his twin electrostaffs, prompting Taldaan to draw his vibroblade. Solay tasks EB-3 and Pord with dealing with the other Comer Runners while they free the fathiers. Taldaan deries Val Dorn as a “softie” who is protecting his people instead of plundering them. The three Jedi manage to push the hovercart containing the fathiers down the pirate ship’s ramp.
The Jedi watch as Val Dorn knocks Taldaan’s vibroblade out of his hand. Brightstar realizes that he has seen that combat move. The Jedi. EB-3 and Pord form ranks outside the hovercart. Val Dorn forces Taldaan to leave. Before leaving, the older pirate tells Val Dorn that he is not the only one with a “few surprises up his sleeve.” Val Dorn warns Taldaan not to return to Vuundalla again. Taldaan smirks before departing aboard the Comet Runners’ ship. Val Dorn releases the fathiers from their hovercart. Brightstar warns Val Dorn that they would not let him take the fathiers.
Val Dorn says that he is not interested in the fathiers. One of the fathiers licks him. When Brightstar expresses surprise, Val Dorn says that the people of Vuundalla have been through enough and that he no longer steals from the needy. He tells the Jedi younglings to tell the villagers that the Jedi needed Val Dorn to get their fathiers back. He pretends to mock the Jedi for needing rescue. Pord expresses agreement before the gang walks away.
Living a double life
The Jedi return the fathiers to the villagers. Prince Cyrus soon arrives in his speeder. After Mina hugs him, Vuundir tells the Jedi that his speeder got caught in the smoke and stalled. He apologizes for not being able to help. Solay and Brightstar tell Vuundir that Taborr and his crew turned up to help them. Vuundir expresses surprise while Renaad thanks the Prince for helping them. Mina offers to teach Cyrus how to ride a fathier. The Jedi younglings follow.
