“Tower Run”

The Gangul takeover
The Rathtar’s Revenge approaches the pirate stronghold of Yarrum Tower. The Ganguls’ leader Sellaccc Orryak announces that the gang will take over Yarrum Tower. Toda-Joh responds with shock but Orryak says that they can take whatever they want because they are the Ganguls. Addressing her expanded gang, she tells them that it is time that they made a statement to the entire Outer Rim, that no one can stop the Ganguls. The other pirates including Joh and Jooro Jarrot cheer.

Meanwhile, the Abednedo former pirate Chigg serves the Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar, Nubs and Lys Solay a bowl of berries. Chigg says that he loves travelling the galaxy and found these berries on a nearby jungle moon. He invites them to taste the berries, which they enjoy. Their meal is interrupted by a smoke bomb, which prompts Chigg to usher them under the awnings in his stall to hide.

Amidst the smoke, Orryak and her Ganguls seize control of the Yarrum Tower marketplace and proclaim the tower as their new headquarters. When the other pirates react with dismay, Orryak announces that they now work for them whether they like it or not. Joh and Jarrot support their leader and sport weapons. Jarrot warns the other pirates and merchants not to run away. He orders the other Ganguls to initiate their prisoners into the gang. While hiding, Chigg tells the Jedi younglings that he doesn’t want to work for the Ganguls because he doesn’t want to be a pirate anymore.

The enemy of my enemy
Solay reassures Chigg that they will protect him. When Chigg suggests contacting their shuttle pilot friend Nash Durango, Brightstar responds that it will take too long for her to arrive. He says they have to leave now. Since the Ganguls have blocked the exits, Solay suggests asking Taborr Val Dorn for help. Brightstar thinks that Val Dorn won’t help them but Solay suggests he can help them because he is an enemy of the Ganguls. Brightstar reluctantly agrees to seek Val Dorn’s help.

The three younglings meet Val Dorn, who is initially startled. When Solay asks if he could help them escape, Val Dorn expresses a reluctance due to their mutual animosity. Solay offers to help by saying that they can help him escape if they work together. Val Dorn refuses because he wants to wait for the right moment to challenge the Ganguls for control of Yarrum Tower. Brightstar disagrees and points out that Val Dorn is outnumbered. Peering down at the marketplace, Val Dorn realizes Brightstar is right and agrees to help them evacuate Chigg.

Escaping Yarrum Tower
He contacts EB-3 and Pord, who have parked the Iron Talon on the landing field outside Yarrum Tower. EB-3 informs Val Dorn that the Nihil are starting to impound starships but he doesn’t know whether to flee. Val Dorn tells his crew that he and his friends will be joining them at the airfield. Val Dorn tells the Jedi and Chigg that the path to the turbolift is blocked by the Ganguls’ recruits. Solay volunteers to serve as a lookout. Climbing the girdle, she tells the other Jedi to get to the crates.

They hide as Orryak and Jarrot approach. The Gangul leaders discuss the poor quality of their new recruits. Orryak hopes that their ships will be more impressive. Val Dorn wants to take out the Gangul leaders but Brightstar restrains him. They hide as Toda-Joh runs after Orryak and Jarrot. Brightstar says he understands Val Dorn’s obsession with taking out the Ganguls but emphasizes that evacuating Chigg is their first priority. When Val Dorn asks why Chigg is important to him, Brightstar explains that Chigg made a choice not to be a pirate and that he is a friend. Brightstar says that Val Dorn can choose, which makes the young pirate prince reflect.

The group approach the turbolift, which is guarded by a Jablogian pirate and a Nikto pirate. Solay comes up with a plan which involves using crates to sneak past the pirates, who are sharing drinks on a table. The group enter the turbolift and descend down to the ground level concourse. Val Dorn radios Pord and EB-3 via comlink, telling them that he is on the way.

Skirmish in the airfield
Pord replies that Orryak wants to claim the starships in Yarrum Tower’s airfield, which complicates their escape plan. Brightstar says that they need a distraction to get past the Ganguls. Nubs says he is onto it in Poobian. Nubs meditates and uses the Force to drop a large rock on a nearby ship. While Joh and Jarrot argue about the worthiness of that starship, the group run towards the Iron Talon while Orryak is distracted. However, Val Dorn pauses in the middle of the airfield. He reminds Brightstar that he said that he could make his own choices and decides to attack Orryak with his electrostaffs. This arouses the attention of Orryak, who orders Jarrot to capture the children. Jarrot traps Nubs and Chigg under an energy net with his net gun.

Solay and Brightstar engage Jarrot and Joh while Val Dorn duels with Orryak on top of a starfighter. The two lock weapons and Orryak knocks him to the ground with her spear. He blocks her blow with his electrostaff. She attempts to force him into submission but Val Dorn trips her and makes a dash for the Iron Talon. To Brightstar’s dismay, Val Dorn departs on his starship. Working together, Orryak and Toda-Joh knock Brightstar’s lightsaber out of his hand. Solay is now the only one left standing. Orryak is jubilant but her victory is short-lived.

The Iron Talon circles the airfield and returns. While Brightstar and Solay duck, Val Dorn’s starship strafes the three pirates with laser fire. Brightstar retrieves his lightsaber while Solay frees Chigg and Nubs. The four flee aboard the Iron Talon with the help of EB-3 and Pord. Joh collapses with exhaustion while Jarrot laments that the Jedi, Val Dorn and Chigg escaped. Orryak however reassures them that they have captured Yarrum Tower.

Aftermath
While the Iron Talon travels through hyperspace, the Jedi and Chigg gather in the ship’s bridge. Chigg thanks Val Dorn for helping them but Val Dorn is not bothered. A timid Pord squeals before returning to her console. When Brightstar thanks Val Dorn for doing good, the pirate replies that he chose to do things his way. He says that he will always choose that despite what the Jedi say. As Val Dorn swivels away in his seat, the Jedi return a glum look.

Later, the Jedi younglings and their friend Hap gather at Chigg’s fruit stall in Kublop Springs. Hap describes Chigg as having one of the best stock of fruits in the galaxy. Chigg thanks the Jedi younglings for helping him escape Yarrum Tower. Solay says they sympathize with the loss of his stall but are glad that he is safe on Tenoo. The Jedi hug him while Hap offers to whip up some fruit shakes at Hap’s Sap Tap.

“The Jumping Jetpack”

The rogue jetpack
Kai Brightstar agrees to help retrieve an actuator from Marlaa’s junkyard for Nash Durango since she is busy. Durango switches off her holoprojector and returns to work on the Crimson Firehawk. Marlaa Jinara runs towards Brightstar and pushes him down just as an out of control jetpack rockets past them. Jinara’s droids JG-1 and PT-3 also take cover. Jinara explains that she was trying prepare the jetpack for the famous explorer and pirate Maz Kanata. Kanata says that her plan to catch the rogue jetpack didn’t work out and asks if the others have any ideas.

Jinara reminds Kanata about how they caught giant buzzer bees on Borlax 14. Kanata points out that they don’t have Cardogian honey, which she adds won’t work on a rogue jetpack. When Brightstar asks how the two know each other, Jinara explains that the two used to go on adventures together when they were younger. Brightstar is surprised to learn that Jinara traveled offworld when she was younger. Brightstar offers to use the Force to help them. Jinara tells Kanata that Brightstar is a Jedi youngling and a good friend.

He uses the Force in attempt to stop the jetpack but loses control. The jetpack boomerangs through the junkyard and flies into Kublop Springs. Jinara expresses relieve the jetpack is gone but Kanata reminds Jinara that she made the jepack for Kanata. Kanata says they should go on a quest to find the jetpack. Brightstar offers to help with the quest. Kanata suggests that all three of them go together, adding that Brightstar could learn a lot from Jinara. Kanata says that even people whom he knows well can have a lot of surprises. Before leaving, Jinara assigns JG-1 and PT-3 with looking after the junkyard in her absence.

The forest hike
The three enter the Tenoo tree forest, running past a snake and three rodents. Brightstar struggles to keep up with Jinara and Kanata, who can run fast. Along the way, Jinara tells Brightstar that she once visited Naboo. As they navigate over some rocks, Nubs struggles to keep up with the two women. After emerging from a bush, Brightstar grumbles about getting leaves, branches and goo stuck to him.

The three reach a rickety rope bridge. Jinara and Kanata are wary of the bridge but Brightstar volunteers to cross it. After reaching the middle, the bridge starts to fall apart. Brightstar manages to reach the end of the bridge before it collapses. Kanata pulls him in. As they approach a giant Tenoo tree, Kanata leads the way in swinging across the giant three. Jinara follows suit. Brightstar struggles with the lasso but manages to reach the other side with the help of Kanata.

Stuck
Kanata leads the way in jumping over a bush. However, Kanata soon finds herself stuck in a pool of sap. Kanata tells Jinara and Brightstar that she has found the jetpack. Assessing the situation, Brightstar attempts to use the Force to pull Kanata out of the pool despite Jinara’s warning. However, the exertion causes Kanata to get even more stuck and she begins sinking into the pool of sap. Brightstar apologizes and says he doesn’t know what to do.

Jinara comes up with a new plan that involves Brightstar using the Force to lower the jetpack. Using the Force, Brightstar moves the jetpack off the branch and levitate it towards Jinara. Jinara fixes the jetpack and attaches it to her back. Jinara struggles to control the jetpack but manages to gain control. She flies towards Kanata and pulls her out of the sap pool. Brightstar cheers as Jinara lands with Kanata on the banks of the sap pool. Brightstar is pleased and surprise to learn more about Kanata. The three then race back to Marlaa’s junkyard with Jinara flying her jetpack.

Aftermath
Back at the junkyard, JG-1 and PT-3 work together to tidy up the mess caused by the rogue jetpack. Jinara is the first to land followed by Brightstar and Kanata. Brightstar says he is pleased to learn that people are full of surprises. Kanata and Jinara embrace before Kanata departs with her repaired jetpack to her castle. After Kanata leaves, Brightstar asks if he could have an actuator and gets Jinara to tell him another story. Jinara recounts an adventure on Thyferra.
