XTS Cleared in Freighter Explosion

AROO, MANDA – A five-month Senate-commissioned investigation has cleared Xizor Transport Systems from any wrongdoing in the explosion of an XTS freighter at the Baobab Merchant Fleet Complex on Manda.

The commission, headed by Senators Tikkes (Mon Calamari) and Edcel Bar Gane (Roona), found the freighter captain, Lasro Javeq responsible, but not the shipping company. “XTS was very forthcoming during our search for the truth, and assisted us in every possible means,” said Tikkes. “The tragic incident that occurred last year was the act of a single man, and not a volley launched between competitive rivals, as some of my slanderous colleagues surmised.”

The investigation revealed that Junior Operations Manager Lasro Javeq had been embezzling from XTS during his five years with the company, skimming close to five million credits. An examination of a psych-profile prior to Javeq’s fatal trip indicated notable instabilities, which has led the commission to conclude that Javeq’s fiery death as a suicide.

Javeq’s freighter, berthed at the Baobab docking bays, suffered a catastrophic reactor feedback failure that killed over 2,000 employees and grounded 125 Baobab Merchant vessels. The Baobabs tried to hold Xizor Transport Systems responsible for willful sabotage or negligence.

After the tragedy, Prince Xizor, Chairman of XTS, donated over five million credits to charities benefiting victims of the explosion, including Javeq’s widow and his two children.
