Story
“The Spaceport Setback”
Kai Brightstar wakes up from a nightmare he had about pirates. Lys Solay and Nubs arrive and reassure him that he was experiencing a nightmare, checking if he is alright. Brightstar is relieved but says he had a difficult sleep and needs to rest for the day. Since it is a free day, Solay and Nubs invite Brightstar to accompany them to Kublop Springs spaceport. While sitting on their speeder bikes, the three Jedi younglings watch starships descending into the spaceport, including a Zekodoan Cruiser—a fruit drops near Brightstar and splatters.
Brightstar wants to go back to the Tenoo Jedi Temple and rest, but Solay insists on finding something to do together. She sees a labor droid, F-4RO, in distress and goes to help it. Solay introduces herself and her friends to the droid. F-4RO reluctantly allows them to load a crate onto a hover cart and bring them aboard a starship. However, the younglings accidentally load a crate onto the wrong ship, which promptly takes off from Kublop Springs spaceport. F-4RO panics because the departing ship is heading to the pirate stronghold of Yarrum Tower and he fears the pirates will never give it back.
A reluctant adventure
Solay apologizes and promises that she and her friends will bring back the cargo. Nubs backs her up while Brightstar grumbles about wanting to have a quiet day reading his holobook at the temple. However, he agrees to help his friends retrieve the cargo and says that they will contact Nash Durango to arrange a ride on the Crimson Firehawk. The Jedi younglings travel on the Firehawk to Yarrum. Durango and RJ-83 agree to stay aboard while the Jedi younglings travel to the pirate tower in various disguises.
At the entrance, they encounter Hudi, who recognizes Brightstar. Brightstar introduces Solay and Nubs to Hudi, explaining that she is a friend who runs an outpost nearby. Hudi adds that she has a small shop in the tower. When Hudi asks what they are doing here, Brightstar explains that they accidentally sent a crate to Yarrum Tower and ask if she can help. Hudi thinks that if the cargo was dispatched today, it would still be at the landing pad. She warns that the pirates monitor both incoming and outcoming traffic. She warns that the pirates will recognize them in their costumes.
Hudi offers to sneak them into the landing pad inside a rectangular crate. Yarrum tells a Gamorrean guard that she is bringing a delivery. The guard allows her to proceed with the crate into the cargo pad. When Brightstar makes a noise, Hudi tells the guard that she was reacting to the sight of the numerous crates. Hudi distracts the Gamorrean guard by flattering him about his job loading the cargo and gives the younglings the signal to exit their crate. Once the guard has left, the younglings sort through the crates and find the missing crate they were looking for.
Pirate entanglements
Before they can leave, they are cornered by the Ganguls Sellaccc Orryak, Toda-Joh and Jooro Jarrot. Jarrot asks if the younglings have come to pay them a visit while Joh quips about their disguises. Brightstar explains that they do not want a fight but that they have come to retrieve a crate that was accidentally sent to Yarrum Tower. Orryak refuses to let them reclaim the crate, saying that the pirates take everything that arrives at the tower. Jarrot and Orryak are curious about the contents of the crate.
Solay and her friends respond that the crate does not belong to them and draw their training lightsabers. However, Joh uses an energy weapon to snatch their lightsabers while Jarrot traps them with a rope gun. Orryak orders “Speeds” and Toda-Joh to unlock the crate. Solay apologizes to her friends for getting them into trouble, and says she wanted them to have fun together. Brightstar says that all he wanted was a “pirate-free day” staying home at the Temple and reading a holobook. Solay apologizes for making Brightstar do something she thought he wanted. Nubs says something encouraging in Poobian.
Reclaiming the crate
Brightstar tells his friends that he has plan to get out of this trap but says they need to pay attention. To get out of their rope bindings, Brightstar gets his friends to maneuver towards an axe while Jarrot and Toda-John attempt to pry the crate open with a stick. After freeing themselves, Brightstar gets Solay and Nubs to distract the Ganguls while he contacts Durango for help. Putting their plans into action, Nubs and Solay lead the Ganguls on a chase while Brightstar requests a cargo pickup from Durango and RJ-83.
Following a chase, the pirates corner Solay and Nubs. However, Brightstar throws his friends their lightsabers. Solay does a Force jump and picks up her and Nubs’ lightsabers. After Nubs rejoins the trio, Solay hands him his lightsaber. The three Jedi make a stand at front of the crate. The Firehawk arrives and RJ-83 opens the front hatch. RJ-83 uses a grappling cable to pull the crate aboard the Firehawk, which ascends into the sky. After the Jedi push the pirates away with the Force, the Firehawk swoops down low enough to pick up the Jedi younglings.
After the Crimson Firehawk escapes, Orryak vows revenge against the Jedi for coming to her home and taking their “things.” Returning to Kublop Springs’ spaceport, the Jedi younglings return the crate to a delighted F-4RO, who thanks them. Solay apologizes to the droid for not listening to him earlier and doing what they assumed was the best. F-4RO thanks and says that that he will deliver the cargo. Later, Solay tells Brightstar that she has something that will cheer him up. They spent the rest of the day reading holobooks in Brightstar’s bunk bed.
“The Mission Mixup”
The Jedi younglings Kai Brightstar, Lys Solay and Nubs gather in the Tenoo Jedi Temple’s training field for mission briefing with Jedi Master Zia Zaldor Zanna. Master Zia explains that she actually has two missions for them. Since they need to be done quickly, they will have to split into teams of two. Brightstar and Nubs express their eagerness for the missions. The first mission involves helping the rancher Roon, who lives on a nearby moon, to retrieve her missing baby banthas before their nightly feeding. The second mission involves helping the adventurer droid 0G-LC to pick up the journal of the Jedi explorer Seba from a nearby jungle moon before a big storm hits.
Brightstar offers to help OG-LC retrieve Seba’s mission while Solay helps Roon. Brightstar invites Nubs to come with him. Solay says she will get a ride from Nash Durango in the Crimson Firehawk and hopes to try out her bantha song, explaining that music helps calm them down. Solay begins singing her bantha song. Master Zia appreciates their enthusiasm but warns the Jedi to be prepared for any mission, not just their personal interests. She then passes the Jedi younglings datapads containing their mission coordinates.
The wrong destinations
Brightstar and Nubs travel in Jedi Vectors to a desert moon. Brightstar recognizes several banthas outside Roon’s ranch and realize that they are at the wrong destination. Meanwhile, Solay and Durango travel in the Crimson Firehawk to the jungle moon. Brightstar contacts Solay and Durango via holoprojector. The Jedi younglings and Durango realize that their missions have gotten split up. When Durango suggests a swap, Brightstar says that they don’t have enough time for that since the banthas need to be found before dinner time and the journal before the storm hits.
Solay and Brightstar decide to stick with their missions before the signals cut off. When Durango asks if the others will be fine, Solay reassures her friend that they have got this under control. Durango leads the way to finding the journal and RJ-83 follows along. Brightstar and Nubs soon encounter Roon, who is four-eyed alien with green skin. She explains that their three youngest banthas have gotten lost from the herd and that they could be anywhere on the moon, which is a giant ranch. Roon gives them two speeder bike that are attached to trailers. Brightstar promises they will be back for dinner time.
Improvising
While travelling through the desert, Brightstar crashes his speeder into a rock, damaging one of its cables. Brightstar wishes Solay and Durango were here to help with the banthas and speeder respectively. He and Nubs get to work. Meanwhile, Solay along with Durango and RJ-83 approach a ruined stony settlement, which they believe was the camp of the Jedi explorer. Solay admits she does not know a lot about Jedi history while Durango searches through the crates. She is trapped by a squishy plant which wraps its vines around her. RJ-83 gets stuck while trying to free her. Solay wishes Nubs was here before deciding to think like Nubs.
Meanwhile, Brightstar and Nubs manage to repair Brightstar’s damaged speeder and continue their search for the banthas. Brightstar says they need to think like how Solay would in the same situation. Nubs suggests they slow down and breath deeply, which Brightstar agrees. The two stop their vehicles and meditate in the Force. They sense the various insects and rodents around them. The two Jedi hear banthas granting and find them under an arch in a canyon. They manage to load two of the banthas onto the trailer units but one of them runs away.
Elsewhere on the jungle moon, Solay notices that the squishy plant’s soil is very dry and waters it, causing the plant to release both Durango and RJ-83. Durango is relieved to discover that the plant was just thirsty and asks how Solay solved the puzzle. Solay observes that Nubs always observes a plant to check what it needs. Just then, they hear the roar of thunder. Durango reminds Solay about their mission. Solay admits she is stuck but Durango reassures her friend that Brightstar always does something even though it may be wrong. Solay realizes that they need to make a choice and deduces that the journal has been buried. The three dig several holes and find the journal hidden within a wooden crate.
Problem solving
Meanwhile, Brightstar and Nubs pursue the last remaining bantha, who leads them on a chase. Brightstar wishes they had Solay around. Just then, Brightstar’s speeder breaks down due to their patchy repair job. Solay, Durango and RJ-83 contact them via holoprojector with news that they have found the journal. Durango warns them about the storm. When Brightstar asks how they found the journal, Solay explains that they made a choice and stuck with it before the connection cuts. Brightstar and Nubs discuss what Solay would do. Nubs comes up with the idea of using Solay’s bantha song.
While Brightstar and Nubs sing the song, Nubs pulls a blade of a grassy plant. The bantha approaches them as Brightstar repeats the lyrics of the song. Nubs feeds the bantha, which feeds him. The two Jedi bring the three banthas back to a grateful Roon, who expresses relief. The banthas rejoin their herd.
Back at the Tenoo Jedi temple, Solay returns with Seba’s journal and is greeted by Master Zia. She is also joined by Brightstar and Nubs, who have returned from their successful mission. Zanna congratulates the Jedi younglings for completing their mission despite the mixup. When Brightstar and Solay asks if she got their missions mixed up on purpose, Zanna confirms that this is the case. Nubs expresses surprise. Zanna says that the three younglings are good at different things but that they are also good at learning from each other. Durango asks the Jedi younglings for help in removing plant goo from her droid RJ-83, which they agree to help.
