Time to Use: Must Be Kept Up
Effect: A rarely used Sith ritual allows the user to ensnare a targeted Force-user in a powerful illusion. Only the strongest Force-users will realize they are trapped in an illusion created by this power.
The reason for this power’s rare usage is because of the conditions required for it. First, two Sith Lords must be present, and one must have some form of Force bond with the targeted Force-user, a Master-Padawan bond, for example. The one with this bond must offer a drop of blood into a water-filled basin. When the drop of blood contacts the water, the water turns black.
Both Siths must use Force lightning while the caster chants the incantation in the Balc language. The Force Lightning turns the water into mist. The caster then leans his or her face into the mist, which allows the caster to manipulate the illusion.
The user can mask his or her presence by assuming the guise of an individual familiar to the target. Doing this adds +10 to all the required difficulty rolls.
When using this power, all the requirements must be met; otherwise, the power fails automatically.
Game Note: Any Jedi using this power automatically receives a Dark Side Point.
Background: The force power of dark illusion gave its user the ability to manipulate force visions to attack a selected target directly. Dark illusion was summoned through an ancient Sith ritual using the connection of a Force-bond, one coming from someone with a link to the target, and reciting a Sith incantation in the old Balc language. Compounded with the blood of the bonded and Force lightning and the dark side of the Force, the dark illusion could reach its intended victim from across the galaxy.
During the galactic conflict known as the Clone Wars, the Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Sidious, used dark illusion to attack Grand Master Yoda of the Jedi Order, exploiting his Sith apprentice Darth Tyranus’ bond to Yoda for the ritual. Also, using the power of the long-deceased Sith Lord Darth Bane’s tomb, Sidious reached Yoda on Moraband, the ancient homeworld of the Sith, while on Coruscant.
