Background: Oolin Musters was a female Alliance to Restore the Republic member from Blutopia. She was captured by the Galactic Empire and imprisoned in an Imperial labor camp on the planet Wobani. During her captivity, she introduced herself as Nail to other prisoners. Still, she was nicknamed Kennel due to the various parasites she hosted within a dirty jacket that she used to cover her chest partially.

Jyn Erso was assigned as Musters’ cellmate under the false name “Liana Hallik,” and late one night in 0 BBY, when Erso woke Musters from sleep by sitting up in her bunk, the alien warned the human that on their next work assignment together she would kill her. The next day, the guards picked them at random for the work shift and took them out of their cells to chain them into a turbo-tank, which was commonly used as a prisoner transport in the camp. Erso noticed that the alien did not make eye contact with any of the other three prisoners accompanying them. Erso interpreted this as a sign that Musters would not have any allies in her attempt to kill her.

Musters never got the opportunity to attempt Erso’s life. This was because, before the tank could reach its destination, it was attacked by a squad of Alliance Special Forces troopers searching for Erso. The rebels quickly blew off the door of the vehicle, which surprised Musters, and killed the three stormtroopers who were guarding the prisoners. They then freed their target. However, Erso hit Rebel Sergeant Ruescott Melshi with a spade and promptly tried to escape from her saviors, fleeing past Musters as the alien stood up. Erso escaped the tank before being stopped by the reprogrammed KX-series security droid, K-2SO. Erso was then returned to the Alliance’s base on the moon, Yavin 4.

After escaping from Imperial custody, Musters headed to Jedha City on the moon Jedha. While walking down one of the city’s streets, she and other civilians were forced to step aside for an Imperial patrol that included an “Occupier” combat assault tank. Suddenly, members of the rebel leader Saw Gerrera’s partisans attacked the patrol, which caused most civilians in the street to flee. The Empire’s Death Star superweapon destroyed Jedha City shortly after the attack.
