Background: During the High Republic Era, Nubs, a Force-sensitive member of the Pooba species was taken in by the Jedi Order at a young age. He underwent Jedi training on Coruscant and became friends with Lys Solay and Kai Brightstar. The three of them worked together to overcome challenges. After some time, they were sent to study on the Outer Rim planet Tenoo. On the day of their departure, they attempted to break their own training course record. Nubs used his strength to help Brightstar, and the three young Jedi completed the course together in record time, despite being under fire from Marksman-H training remotes.

They received an urgent holomessage from Jedi Master Zia Zanna, and they boarded the Crimson Firehawk, the last transport available to Tenoo. During the journey, Nubs was startled by a burst of steam from the ship’s pipes but quickly regained his composure. The group encountered a distress signal from a cafe proprietor in Kublop Springs, who needed assistance in a pirate raid. Nubs and his friends agreed to help and sprang into action as soon as the Firehawk landed.

The Jedi arrived at Hap’s and were met by Taborr Val Dorn and his group of pirates, as well as the droid EB-3 and Gamorrean Pord. Nubs engaged in a food fight with Pord, but was able to recover quickly after falling on his back and sucking up a plate of noodles. However, Val Dorn’s blast caused a tree to fall toward the cafe, leading the younglings to hold it back while the pirates escaped with stolen goods. Durango and RJ-83 were able to stall the pirates enough for the Jedi to retrieve the townsfolks’ belongings. After returning to the Temple, Master Zanna praised the younglings and welcomed them to their new home. Nubs was curious about the food situation.

In a training session, the younglings were tasked with reaching a platform while dodging a lightsaber training droid. Nubs needed assistance after hanging precariously from a rope. Brightstar attempted to retrieve his lightsaber and help Nubs simultaneously, but lost his grip on the Pooba boy, causing him to fall to the ground and fail the challenge. Brightstar apologized and Nubs forgave him with a hug. Grand Master Yoda arrived and assigned the younglings with the important task of acquiring sparkle-fire seeds for the Kublop Springs festival. Nubs danced before joining his friends aboard the Crimson Firehawk.

The group obtained the seeds from a vendor named Kumpa in a settlement on the planet Yarrum. However, before returning to Tenoo, they received a distress signal from Yarrum and left to investigate, leaving the seeds on the Firehawk. The signal turned out to be a trap by Val Dorn, who stole the seeds from the younglings’ ship. Nubs, Brightstar, and Solay tracked the pirates down to Yarrum Tower, where they boarded Val Dorn’s ship. Nubs and Solay escaped with the seeds while Brightstar held the pirates back. The Pooba almost fell off the ship but was saved by Brightstar, who used the Force to lift Nubs onto the ship.

Back at Tenoo, the younglings delivered the seeds to Yoda just in time for the festival. Nubs watched as the old Jedi master planted the seeds, which immediately grew into large flowers that shot bursts of light into the air. As the festival continued, Nubs danced with Solay, Durango, and RJ-83 while Brightstar shared a private moment with Master Yoda.

Later, Nubs, Brightstar, and Solay entered the Kublop Classic with Durango, an annual competition for young residents of Kublop Springs that involved racing watercraft through the rivers of Tenoo. The initiates helped Durango construct the Crimson Bolt, a racing skiff of her own design. Nubs was tasked with assembling the vessel’s sail but it fell into the waters. Nubs and Brightstar used the Force to reattach the sail, impressing their Jedi instructor, Master Zanna. Durango expected the team to use these powers during the race, but they agreed to compete fairly against their opponents.

During the Kublop Classic, Nubs was assigned to help Team Crimson Bolt by using his strength to maneuver the sail on sharp turns. Early in the race, his skills were tested when he narrowly avoided a large root from a Tenoo tree that damaged another team’s skiff. As they approached a waterfall, Durango commanded the crew to work together to propel the skiff closer to the lead. In a desperate move, Nubs grabbed hold of the sail to provide lift as they fell down the waterfall, but unfortunately, the maneuver ended with the skiff stuck in the mud.

Zess, whose racer was also stuck, asked why the younglings wouldn’t use their abilities to free their skiff, but Nubs explained that Jedi do not cheat. Zess then worked with them to free both racers, and they completed the race together. Due to Durango’s wise command, Team Crimson Bolt narrowly won the Kublop Classic and celebrated their victory with a trophy.

While exploring the Temple Library on Tenoo, Nubs, Brightstar, and Durango stumbled upon a forgotten antechamber that held an ancient starship tracker. Master Zanna helped them discover that the tracker held the location of the Star Seeker, a Jedi exploratory ship that had been missing for centuries. Together with Durango, they followed the directions to a nearby planet, with Nubs experiencing fear during an asteroid field. However, Durango allowed him to man the Firehawk’s cannons, and his marksmanship saved the crew from a large asteroid and allowed them to reach the planet safely.

Nubs was uneasy on the foggy planet, but felt comforted by his friends. They used the Force to clear the fog and found the Star Seeker, along with its pilot, 0G-LC. The droid had crash-landed and was afraid to try again, but the Jedi encouraged him to complete his mission. When he returned to the Jedi Temple, Nubs and his friends helped him unload his cargo before bidding him farewell.

Later, Nubs fell ill with ‘the sniffles’ and couldn’t attend the annual eruption of the Kublop Geyser. Brightstar and Solay were upset to hear of his absence, but Nubs knew of a remedy: tea made from the Yara plant. His friends traveled to the giant Tenoo tree to obtain the leaves and successfully did so, despite encountering a large gangul. Nubs made a full recovery and witnessed the eruption of the geyser with his good friends.
