Background: Jek Porkins was originally a trader on Bestine IV. He witnessed the cruelty of the Galactic Empire when they decided to construct a base on his homeworld, which disrupted the lives of all the inhabitants in its path. As the Empire’s authoritarian rule grew, Porkins left his planet and joined the Starfighter Corps of the Rebel Alliance to seek revenge.

After joining the Starfighter Corps, Porkins was stationed on Tierfon in the Expansion Region, where he flew many missions with the Tierfon Yellow Aces. However, the Empire caught wind of its activities in the sector and imposed stricter control, forcing the Rebel Alliance to abandon Tierfon. Porkins were then reassigned to the Alliance’s main base on Yavin 4 and placed under the command of General Antoc Merrick.

As a seasoned rebel pilot, Porkins was known for his ritual hazing of recruits despite his fellow veterans being generally accommodating.

In a galaxy far, far away, after a fierce battle near the planet Kashyyyk, Biggs Darklighter suggested to Jek Porkins that they take a break and vacation to the planet Irff. They enjoyed their time on the planet for twelve days until they discovered an Imperial officer had reserved their vacation spot.

After discovering this information, Porkins and Darklighter pretended to have blasters. They entered the officer’s room, but the officer became frightened and revealed that she was just a parent of six. Porkins apologized for their mistake, and they both left. However, after they left, the officer called security, and Porkins and Darklighter were eventually caught. Security forced them to leave the vacation spot, or the manager would be called.

Later on, during the Battle of Scarif, Jek Porkins was a member of Red Squadron and flew an X-wing starfighter as Red Six alongside other pilots. They were tasked with engaging the Star Destroyers and TIE fighters, and the battle ended with the theft of the technical readouts for the Death Star.

Days after returning from Scarif, Porkins served drinks for his fellow pilots at Base One the night before the Battle of Yavin. He flew with Red Squadron again, still as Red Six, and exchanged banter with Biggs Darklighter, whom he considered to be a cocky Bestine native.

Just before the battle started, Dreis assigned Porkins the callsign Red Six. While in the battle, Dreis commanded the destruction of one of the Death Star’s deflection towers, which Porkins and Darklighter successfully destroyed through their starfighters’ laser cannons. Unfortunately, Porkins’ ship hit debris from the tower and began to malfunction, causing him to drift over the Imperial turbolaser batteries mounted on the surface. Porkins ignored Darklighter’s pleas to retreat despite his inability to navigate the fighter. Porkins’ fighter was caught in turbolaser crossfire, and he was killed almost instantly. As the officers and pilots gathered around the central command table in the Massassi war room, they heard the dying words of Porkins. Elyhek Rue felt determined to avenge his fallen comrade. However, there was another Rebel pilot who was unaware of Porkins’ fate. When he asked if Porkins had seen Luke Skywalker’s fighter a few minutes after Jek was shot down, no one could answer.

The Resistance named a flight maneuver in honor of Porkins, called the Porkins Belly Run, over 30 years later. During their travels on the Millennium Falcon after the Battle of Crait, BB-8 informed R2-D2 about the death of Ello Asty, also known as Red Six, the Abednedo pilot. R2 told him they had also lost a Red Six during the Battle of Yavin.
