Background: During the Clone Wars, the Grand Army of the Republic made use of Forward Command Centers, mobile command stations that were established by clone troopers on the front lines of the planet Geonosis during the first battle of the war. Grand Master Yoda oversaw the overall battle from the Forward Command Center as the Jedi took on the role of de facto generals of the clone army.

The center had a circular design and contained multiple computer screens that allowed clone troopers to issue orders to other locations, including clone crews commanding artillery such as Self-Propelled Heavy Artillery Turbolasers. While a commanding officer such as a Clone Commander, Jedi General, or senator could staff the center, during the Battle of Christophsis and Second Battle of Geonosis, only regular clone troopers were present at the Forward Command Center.

From a Forward Command Center, a Clone Commander and their Jedi officer could direct the Galactic Republic’s forces against their enemies. Additionally, it could serve as a command center for a Galactic Senate relief mission. The centers also had small ramps that could be raised off the ground for easier access to Republic Gunships.
