Poison Dart Needler: This needler gun is loaded with darts that contain paralytic poison. The darts inflict no damage, but if used against an unarmored target (or an unarmored portion of a target; see the rules for called shots, SWD6, page 91), they inject their poison. The target of such an attack must succeed at a Difficult Strength check or be paralyzed and unable to move for 1D x 40 minutes (40-240 minutes). No ammunition total is listed, so assume the needler gun carries enough darts for ten shots.

Background: The Sith and later the Galactic Empire used a probe droid model called the DRK-1 Dark Eye, also known as the Sith probe droid, Sith seeker, or Repair droid.

The DRK-1 probe droid was spherical and could float above ground. It had a black shell, a single eye, and an antenna. Darth Maul’s DRK-1 probe droids spoke Sisrai, and some models had a micro-grenade launcher.

Darth Maul, the Sith Lord, had a few DRK-1 probes that he stored on his spacecraft, the Scimitar. He used these probes to locate a freighter from the Haddrex Gang on Nar Shaddaa, which helped him and his bounty hunter companions find Xev Xrexus’ hiding place in the Drazkel system. One of the droids led Maul to where Jedi Padawan Eldra Kaitis was held captive.

In 32 BBY, Maul dispatched three probe droids in his search for Queen Padmé Amidala on Tatooine. One of the droids successfully located her Jedi protector, Qui-Gon Jinn, in Mos Espa and reported back to Maul. He promptly raced towards Jinn on his speeder, the Bloodfin, and engaged him in a lightsaber duel. However, one of the droids decided to remain on Tatooine after rescuing a labor droid and being saved from a sandcrawler by the same droid.

During the Galactic Civil War, the Imperial Army used these droids as repair units to make field repairs to vehicles. Although they were unarmed, they were vulnerable to enemy attacks.
