Background: Sabé, previously known as Tsabin, hailed from the planet Naboo during the Galactic Republic’s later era. She served as Queen Padmé Amidala’s trusted handmaiden who was responsible for keeping the queen safe from any danger. During the Invasion of Naboo, Sabé impersonated Amidala to ensure her safety from the Trade Federation. Even after the queen and her retinue were rescued by Jedi ambassadors Qui-Gon Jinn and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Sabé continued to fulfill her duty as the queen’s decoy. When Amidala sought Boss Rugor Nass and the Gungan warriors’ assistance, Sabé’s excellent disguise was uncovered. Her swift actions proved vital in ending the Battle of Naboo by diverting Nute Gunray’s battle droids, allowing Amidala and her Royal Naboo Security Forces to capture the Federation Viceroy.
Throughout Amidala’s two terms, Sabé remained her dedicated handmaiden, decoy, and loyal bodyguard. When Amidala decided to represent Naboo’s Chommell sector in the Galactic Senate of the Republic, Sabé followed suit. Before leaving for Coruscant, Sabé was sent on a mission to Tatooine with Security Force Captain Tonra. Together, they were able to relocate several slaves to the planet Karlinus, although they were unable to locate Shmi Skywalker, whom Amidala wished to rescue. Upon returning to Coruscant, Sabé stood by Amidala through the political turmoil of the Separatist Crisis.
After Amidala’s death following the Clone Wars and the Galactic Empire’s creation, Sabé and Tonra changed their identities and began investigating the circumstances of the queen’s death. Along with a group of loyal Naboo citizens known as the Amidalans, they discovered Darth Vader, the Sith Lord, had been involved. Not knowing that Vader was Anakin Skywalker, Shmi’s son, and Amidala’s secret husband, Sabé sought revenge against Vader, which lasted into the Galactic Civil War. She infiltrated the ranks of criminal syndicate Crimson Dawn and had multiple encounters with the Dark Lord of the Sith. Eventually, Sabé uncovered enough clues to reveal Vader’s true identity, putting her on a dangerous path with the former Jedi Knight.
