Background: Caitken was a Mon Calamari male who, along with fellow Mon Calamari Shollan, served as an aide to Admiral Raddus in the Alliance to Restore the Republic. In 0 BBY, the trio was present at a meeting on whether or not the Alliance High Command should authorize an attack on the world of Scarif to steal the plans to the Galactic Empire’s rumored superweapon, the Death Star. When the mission was carried out by a rogue group of rebels, Caitken, along with Shollan and Raddus, boarded the admiral’s flagship, the Profundity, to join the group at Scarif.
During the ensuing battle, Raddus turned to Caitken, directing him to call up a Hammerhead corvette in order to take down the Shield Gate protecting Scarif. Following the gate’s destruction, the plans were transmitted to the Profundity just as the Death Star arrived over Scarif. As the admiral ordered the retreat of the Alliance Fleet, the Profundity was disabled and destroyed by a Star Destroyer, with most of the crew perishing.
