Background: Baylan Skoll was a human male born during the era of the Galactic Republic. As a Force-sensitive, Skoll was at some point brought into the Jedi Order, where he eventually rose to the rank of Jedi Knight. During his time in the Order, Skoll was acquainted with fellow Jedi Knight Anakin Skywalker, who spoke highly of his Padawan Ahsoka Tano to Skoll. In 19 BBY, the Clone Wars ended, with Supreme Chancellor and secret Sith Lord Sheev Palpatine reforming the Republic into the Galactic Empire and ordering the execution of all Jedi. Skoll survived the Purge and left the Order to become a mercenary.
Baylan Skoll survived past the Galactic Civil War and into the New Republic Era, where the Jedi Order was reformed under the leadership of Anakin’s son, Luke Skywalker. By that point, Skoll had taken on an apprentice named Shin Hati. In 9 ABY, Imperial leader Grand Admiral Thrawn planned to restore the Galactic Empire under his leadership. However, former Jedi Padawan Ahsoka Tano eventually captured an ally of Thrawn, Morgan Elsbeth, hindering his plan. As a result, Skoll and Hati eventually came into the service of Elsbeth, where they boarded a New Republic starship and murdered most of the crew to free Elsbeth. Their service to Elsbeth continued as they worked with Elsbeth to find Thrawn. Skoll eventually contacted Tano in a forest, stating that Anakin had spoken highly of her. The two eventually engaged in a lightsaber duel but were on opposing sides of the conflict.
