Background: Rick, known as the Door Technician, was a human who served as a scout trooper in the Stormtrooper Corps of the Galactic Empire’s army. His primary job when not deployed was as a maintenance technician of facilities. This typically involved working on the security doors in Imperial facilities. His skill at repairing these doors led him to be referred as Rick the Door Technician.

In 9 BBY, Rick was stationed at Imperial Post 8L-055 on the planet Koboh. When the base was invaded by Jedi Cal Kestis, Rick was investigating reports of multiple nonfunctional doors when he confronted Kestis. Hoping to gain a promotion and orders to a better location Rick challenged the Jedi crying out and charging directly at the invader. The overconfident Rick believed that killing him would be easy, Kestis slew the him like the thousands of Imperials before him without a glance.
