Background: The Fralideja Manufactoring Type IV Lava Skiff was a repulsor vehicle used on Mustafar to traverse the lava covering the planet’s surface without damage. It could seat two humanoids and reach the same speed as an X-34 landspeeder. A Dark Jedi named Lord Vartonis possessed a Lava Skiff, although he lost it to an anonymous spacer after being killed by the spacer in question in 1 ABY.
In 19 BBY, the Jedi Obi-Wan Kenobi fought his former apprentice, Darth Vader, on the planet Mustafar. When the mining facility collapsed into the lava sea, Kenobi saved himself onto a lava skiff while Vader jumped on top of a DLC-13 mining droid. From there, Vader jumped on the skiff and continued to duel his former master. Kenobi jumped off first as they reached land and urged Vader to surrender. The Sith Lord angrily leaped towards Kenobi, who cut off Vader’s legs and left him to burn next to the lava.
