Background: The Light Attack Fighter Model 250, commonly known as the LAF-250 starfighter, was a light starfighter used primarily by the Corellian Defense Force, having been created to police the Corellian sector.
Designed by the Corellian Engineering Corporation and built under the aegis of the Republic Engineering Corporation, the LAF-250 was designed to combine the traditional role of a starfighter with patrol duties.
The design was reasonably maneuverable, and capable of extended patrols of up to 48 hours, but shielding, speed, and hull armor were no more than moderate. In particular, the design’s weapons loadout was light, consisting of just a pair of light laser cannons. While suitable for police work, the ‘250 was no match for well-equipped pirates.
