Background: The Janix Bank Tower was centrally located in Janix City. It handled most of the city’s financial services and was protected by security droids.
Between 17 BBY and around 13 BBY, the Shadow Collective carried out a raid on the bank tower of Nico Deemis’ syndicate in Janix city as part of the Crime lord Maul’s campaign to rebuild the Shadow Collective. After stealing Nico Deemis’ bank supervisor droid and some credits under fire from Deemis’ security droids, Maul’s crew escaped the bank without any losses, though not before Janix Civil Defense learned of the situation. In the ensuing chase, Maul’s crew managed to escape Tactical Defense Force officer Pak and destroy Unit 10, though the Tactical Defense Force quickly tracked them to Sector 8-J. As the Defense Force cornered the crew, however, Maul emerged from his Kom’rk Class fighter/transport and destroyed all the Tactical Defense Forces with his lightsaber, allowing the crew to escape.
In the aftermath of the raid, Nico Deemis came to suspect that his main rival, Looti Vario, was responsible for the attack, and arranged a meeting in neutral territory to question the Head Boss. Meanwhile, Janix Civil Defense detective and captain Brander Lawson began investigating the raid, which eventually led to the discovery of the Shadow Collective and the beginning of the hunt for Maul.
