The Book of Boba Fett has released and we were treated with Chapter One: Stranger in a Strange Land. This first episode is split between Boba Fett trying to secure his newly acquired Criminal Organization and his dreams of his escape from the sarlacc and capture by Tusken Raiders.

Both story lines are intriguing, Boba attempting to rebuild Jabba’s old criminal network should introduce us to several crime bosses within his circle. We get a real Godfather type feel to Boba Fett’s future. Boba wanting to unite the various underbosses and capos so that they will all profit after Jabba’s death. Bib Fortuna looked like he may have allowed a lot of the network to fail so Boba will have his work cutout ahead of him.

As for the flashbacks, Boba’s escape from the sarlacc has been in every Star Wars fan head for decades. We finally see it happen, him losing his armor, and his capture by a tribe of Tusken Raiders. It’s this particular group of Tusken’s that peak my interest. In the 2015 comic Darth Vader #25 we meet a group of Tusken’s who worship the Sith Lord as a god. They are dressed in a manner close to the group of Tusken’s we see in this episode. It might be too far of a stretch but that would make an interesting twist. At this point that Boba is captured Vader is still alive, although not for much longer. I’m sure it will lead to something big down the line with this tribe.

Personally I enjoyed the opening chapter to the series and I expect it will be quite good upon rewatch after we experience the next six episodes. I expect the entire series to be based on Tatooine and I think we will visit all the major towns on the planet, Mos Espa, Mos Eisley, Bestine, and Anchorhead. We know Boba will have to deal with the Mayor of Mos Espa, the Nikto Biker Gang, and Tatooine in general as he secures his base of power in the Outer Rim.

Finally, big shoutout to Max Rebo’s return doing what appears to be a collaboration with the Bith who I believe is Figrin D’an but could be one of the members of Figrin D’an and the Modal Nodes. Pay special note to the R0 series droid playing the drums with a cymbal on his head. Loved that they were playing a version of the Cantina song.

To touch on things around the website, I’ve been busy preparing for The Book of Boba Fett and working through episodes of The Clone Wars. The plan is that I’ll continue to release each episode of The Clone Wars on Friday’s which gives me enough time to prep the latest episode of The Book of Boba Fett for released each Sunday. We are through the second year of the Clone War and now enter 21 BBY (979 Galactic Calendar) when the heroes begin to appear on both sides of the conflict. The plans for the characters is that I’ll do a stat update at the end of the year as the characters upgrade between the seasons. This includes Ahsoka starting to use a second lightsaber which she receives from Anakin as a gift prior to S03E10 ‘Heroes on Both Sides’, Anakin and Obi Wan ditch the Jedi armor, and we see Ahsoka get taller and hair styles progress a step towards the looks Obi Wan and Anakin had in Revenge of the Sith.
