Background:Â The Royal Palace of Alderaan, also known as the Mountain Palace, was the ancestral home of the Royal Family of the planet Alderaan. Located in the capital city of Aldera in a region, it overlooked a lake and was environed by snow-capped mountains. Near the palace was a wood where Princess Leia used to run away to as a child.
Located in the region that contained Aldera, the most ancient parts of the Royal Palace were built over a thousand years before 3 BBY. From then on, additional chambers were added every few decades. In its last years, the palace truly embodied the history and evolution of Alderaanian architecture, as well as the opulence of royalty. For centuries, the palace throne room hosted the heir’s Day of Demand ceremony, and in ancient times, the prince or princess fought their way to the throne room.
The palace was the childhood home of Breha Organa, who used to liken the palace’s grand entrance hall to the inside of a seashell due to its characteristics of being smooth, lustrous, and always slightly cool, even at the height of summer.
