Background: Pedrin Gaul, born on Denon before the Galactic Civil War, worked as a transport pilot ferrying passengers and freight around Denon’s metropolitan skyline. However, after aiding fugitives to escape from the Galactic Empire, he was branded a traitor and forced to flee his homeworld.
Gaul joined the Alliance to Restore the Republic, becoming a cadet in the Alliance Fleet stationed at the Great Temple on Yavin 4. As a member of Red Squadron, he flew a T-65B X-wing starfighter known as Red Five.
While in the Alliance, Gaul was involved in several missions, including a patrol mission to Gordian Trace Relays with fellow pilot Cdt. Harb Binli and Lt. Nozzo Naytaan. Additionally, Gaul fought in the Battle of Scarif, where he and his squadron supported Jyn Erso and Rogue One in their mission to steal plans for the Death Star. Tragically, Gaul was killed in action during the battle as the Alliance attempted to destroy the Shield Gate protecting Scarif.
Admiral Raddus heard Gaul’s anguished scream over the starfighter’s frequency at his death. However, despite his sacrifice, the plans were ultimately transmitted and given to Princess Leia Organa.
