Background: Lothal Depot, also known as the Jalath City depot, was a landing area near the city of Jalath on Lothal, a planet in the Outer Rim Territories. Built on top of the hard surface of an ancient body of water, it was a cheap landing zone and an ideal place for larger ships to land without disrupting Capital City. In addition to the landing area, the depot was comprised of several metal warehouses, offices, and other facilities.
During the early rebellion against the Galactic Empire, Princess Leia Organa brought three Sphyrna-class Hammerhead corvettes to Lothal Depot so the rebels could steal them, thus giving Alderaan plausible deniability regarding its involvement in the rebellion. The rebels raided Lothal Depot and successfully stole the ships.
