Background: Flek was a human member of the Maya Pei Brigade during the Imperial Era. They were part of a group that were stranded on the moon Yavin 4 in 4 BBY following an attack on the brigade.
By 4 BBY, Flek had joined the Maya Pei Brigade to fight against the Galactic Empire. In 4 BBY, the brigade was attacked and Flek was apart of a group of at least sixteen members of the brigade that escaped aboard a starship that landed on Yavin 4. However one member of the group subsequently departed in the ship leaving Flek and the rest of the group stranded on the moon. The group later encountered and killed an individual named Porko that they found near a clearing with a damaged Breon HOY-39.
Two days after being stranded on the moon, Porko’s companion, a man named Cassian Andor, landed near the HOY-39 in a stolen TIE Avenger. As Andor approached the HOY-39 calling out for Porko the brigade members revealed their presence and took Andor prisoner. As two members of the group Gerdis and Bardi took turns trying to interrogate Andor, Flek watched from the sidelines. The interrogation was interrupted when Rika, a member of the group, found the Imperial pilot helmet in the TIE and proclaimed that Andor was an Imperial test pilot. Later on Flek waited outside the TIE while Rika tried to learn to fly the TIE however after realizing it was a lot more complicated to fly the group discussed the situation with Bardi suggesting that they could threaten to kill Andor. Flek pitched in to suggest they needed a pilot. The meeting was interrupted when Andor learned the group was with the Maya Pei Brigade from his guard with Andor trying but failing to convince the group to trust him.
That night, an argument between the group erupted when discussing who should be in charge, ultimately coming to a head when Crab shot Rika with his blaster and with Rowd responding by shooting Crab. The brigade members exchange fire while splitting into two factions; with Flek siding with Gerdis, Snee, Bayso, Plug and Snur and regrouping with at the HOY-39 with Andor while the other group retreats to the TIE. Later that night, Flek stayed with the group in the crashed HOY-39 while Snee crawled through the rain looking for Crab. When she found a dismembered portion of Crab’s leg she rain back to the group and informed the group. Flek announced that animals must of gotten to them. The following morning the group went through their supplies noting that they had fourteen snak-pods and nine meal bars but two of them were moldy. Flek stated that he would rather be hungry than sick with Bayso suggesting that they give Andor the moldy one and see what happens. The group later sent Plug to sneak over and find out what the other group was doing at the TIE. He returned to the group to inform them that they were trying to rotate the TIE so so that its weapons would point towards Flek’s group. Figuring out they could turn the TIE towards them, the group quickly opened fire at the TIE with their blasters thus forcing the TIE group to suspend their effort.
That night Gerdis decided to issue a challenge to Bardi to settle the dispute. The five members of each groups cross towards leaving Flek to guard Andor. Fleck watched as the two groups meet in the middle and dropped their weapons in unison. The two leaders than began a game of Five Hands with Roski rules to decide leadership. When Andor asked what Roski rules were, Flek responded saying it meant total submission. With Flek distracted watching the exchange from the door of the HOY-39, Andor took the opportunity to retrieve a hidden MW-20 Bryar pistol, remove his bindings, gag and bind Flek. He then retrieved a hidden fractal radio from a different compartment and make his way towards the TIE through the jungle as the others continued their game of Five Hands. Before Andor could get TIE, a Yavinian doodar came out of the jungle and scooped Bardi and Gerdis in it’s mouth. Meanwhile Flek managed to remove his gag and warn the group that Andor was getting away. However it was too late, with Andor taking off, Flek stood there watching with his hands still bound.
