Background: D’Qar was a verdant planet in the Ileenium system of the Outer Rim Territories. By the thirtieth year after the formation of the New Republic, the planet was the headquarters of the Resistance, a private paramilitary force formed by Senator Leia Organa to combat the growing threat of the First Order, a self-proclaimed continuation of the Galactic Empire.
After destroying the First Order’s Starkiller Base superweapon, the Resistance evacuated their base, but were caught by a First Order fleet. The Resistance escaped hyperspace from the resulting battle, but not before taking heavy losses and destroying the First Order dreadnought Fulminatrix. Some time later, the Colossus space station arrived above D’Qar, hoping to meet with the Resistance to refuel, but found only the wreckage from the Resistance’s battle with the First Order. While salvaging the wreckage of the destroyed dreadnought, the First Order tracked the station to D’Qar, and attempted to attack and destroy it. The Colossus was refueled using salvaged coaxium and escaped from the system.
