Name: Coaxium
Type: Hyperfuel
Cost: 60 Million Credits per 100 kg.
Color: Blue (Stable), Red (Unstable)
Refinery Locations: Kessel, Mercy Island, Namzor, Redhurne, Savareen, Scarif, and Vandor

Game Notes: Speed Boost: Coaxium coats a ship’s hyperdrive, which, when energised, greatly boosts the power of a starship’s sublight engines and gives a +2D increase to the ship‘s Space stat.

Volatile: Due to Coaxium’s volatility, raw coaxium will explode if it is not stored properly in a temperature-controlled environment (Blast Radius: 0-3/6/12/25; Damage: 5D/4D/3D/2D).

Background: Coaxium in its raw, unrefined state was a very volatile and highly explosive hypermatter and had to be refined in order for it to be stable enough to be stored at room temperature. Even refined coaxium had to be cautiously handled, as it was still explosive. Unrefined coaxium, once mined, would gradually begin to destabilize and turn red before exploding violently if not stored properly in a temperature-controlled environment. One such coaxium refinery existed on the desert planet of Savareen. One hundred kilograms of refined coaxium was worth around 60 million credits.

The hyperdrive reaction chamber of a starship was coated in coaxium, which allowed the ship to travel through hyperspace when energized. Coaxium, when used as a fuel, was so potent at energy generation that just a small amount was sufficient to power an entire fleet of ships. This made it extremely valuable, and it was, therefore, highly sought after by many. The Galactic Empire transported large shipments of coaxium under high-security measurements, with the intent of gaining complete control over the production of the substance.

Because of the knowledge about purrgil and the gas Clouzon-36, scientists discovered that coaxium naturally forms itself in places with strong interstellar energy like Kessel.
