Background: Heert was a human male Imperial officer who served as an Attendant of the Imperial Security Bureau of the Galactic Empire during the Imperial Era. Heert served as the assistant to ISB Supervisor and Lieutenant Dedra Meero of Investigations. He aided her when she was present at the ISB Central Office. He was later promoted to ISB Supervisor himself and, around 4 BBY, was assigned by Major Lio Partagaz to take over the investigation into the Axis network. However, by the Galactic Civil War, his efforts did not yield fruit until 1 BBY, when his coworker Lonni Jung was killed by Luthen Rael—the man behind “Axis”—and Rael himself was severely injured in a confrontation with Meero, who attempted to arrest him herself upon figuring out his identity. After Meero was arrested upon suspicion of rebellion and espionage, Heert scrambled to locate Rael’s missing assistant Kleya Marki, who infiltrated the Lina Soh Hospital and mercy-killed the injured Rael to prevent him from talking under interrogation. Heert managed to track Marki to a safehouse on Level 5124, but when he led an ISB Tactical team to raid the building, the man was killed by the Rebel Alliance droid K-2SO, ending his aspirations and investigations.
