Background: The MC30c frigate was a class of Mon Calamari-designed warship, utilized by the Rebel Alliance during the Galactic Civil War and the New Republic after the conflict concluded.

The MC30c frigate also referred to simply as the MC30C and MC30c, was a class of Mon Calamari frigate manufactured by Mon Calamari Shipyards and saw service during the Imperial Era. The Alliance deployed the frigates to Restore the Republic’s naval forces during the Galactic Civil War against the Galactic Empire, and they were adopted by the New Republic Defense Fleet, the naval branch of the Alliance’s successor state, the New Republic.

The MC30c frigate was used as an attack vessel and was one of the most potent mid-level warships in the Alliance’s arsenal. They were typically found in Alliance battle groups as they could not take damage well. The frigates participated in multiple engagements during the Civil War, including the Battle of Xorrn and the Empire’s fatal defeat, the Battle of Jakku.

The MC30c frigate, or MC30C and MC30c, was a class of high-speed attack frigates manufactured by Mon Calamari Shipyards, costing 9,500,000 credits per unit. They were initially city-ships at 380 meters in length, as with other Mon Calamari starships, but were retrofitted for warfare. The MC30c was one of the most potent mid-level starships in the Alliance Fleet’s arsenal and could quickly inflict significant damage on hostile warships. The MC30c was fitted with two forward-mounted heavy proton torpedo launchers, eight port and eight starboard turret-mounted medium turbolasers, and five port, five starboard, three forward, and three aft twin medium laser cannons. It was also equipped with two port, two starboard, one forward, and one aft cluster bomb launchers.

Additionally, the MC30c was one of the fastest frigates manufactured by Mon Calamari Shipyards and could maintain the same pace or overtake starfighters and escort vessels. It was equipped with a primary class 1 hyperdrive and a class 15 as a backup and used a navigation computer. It had a long-range sensor and carried two years of consumables. 820 officers and enlisted personnel crewed it and took ninety-five soldiers.

Despite its speed and firepower, the MC30c was considered lightly armored, although New Republic pilot Captain Nath Tensent heard that they could hold their own against Star Destroyers. The MC30c was outfitted with a Mon Calamari-designed defense shield, which was famous for giving significant protection against enemy fire. However, once the shield was breached, an MC30c could be easily destroyed under sustained turbolaser fire or bomber attack. Because of this, the MC30c rarely operated outside of a main fleet, and used its cluster bombs to defend itself.

When in combat against hostile warships, the MC30c uses its turbolasers from long-range and moved in closer to the target at medium range in order to use its proton torpedo launchers. Although risky, the MC30c sometimes concentrated its shields to the front to protect from counterattack while also launching cluster bombs and firing its laser cannons in minion groups to defend against starfighters. If there were bombers present, a tactic MC30cs used was to maintain its defense zones balanced and fire its lasers in groups of three and five to tag and destroy the bombers.

Due to not being able to operate after sustained enemy fire, the MC30cs were typically only found in Alliance fleet groups and used its armaments to defend the fleet units against enemy frigates, cruisers, and Star Destroyers.

In 9 ABY, Captain Hayle was in command of MC30c Frigate, tasked with transporting the prisoner Morgan Elsbeth and rendezvousing with Home One. However, the transport was intercepted by Baylan Skoll and his apprentice Shin Hati. The duo killed everyone onboard, scuttling the ship and leaving with Elsbeth.
