Background: Jan Dodonna, a male human military officer from Commenor, was a legendary figure who served with the navy of the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars, the navy of the Galactic Empire, and later as a general in the rebellion against the Galactic Empire. He commanded the Massassi Group, one of the largest cells in Senator Bail Organa’s resistance movement, which played a vital role in the formation and declaration of the Alliance to Restore the Republic. As the leader, he formulated a plan that resulted in the successful Battle of Yavin and the destruction of the Death Star superweapon.

Dodonna’s sacrifice helped members of the High Command, including Chancellor and Commander-in-Chief Mon Mothma, Admiral Gial Ackbar with Home One, General Hera Syndulla with the Geist, and Commander Leia Organa, to survive and continue the fight for justice and the restoration of the Republic. Eventually, the Alliance Fleet, led by Ackbar, participated in the Battle of Endor, which resulted in the first death of Emperor Palpatine, the destruction of the second Death Star, and the collapse of the Empire itself during the Battle of Jakku.
